Hannah Moldenhauer

aka “RED”

The Low-Down on Hannah

Set big goals. Make a plan. Put in the work.
Recently, I’ve seen Boston Marathon hopefuls reach their BQs and realize their true potential. It’s exciting to see athletes reach optimal racing condition by putting in the hard work. With guidance and dedication, there’s nothing a runner can’t achieve.
My recent running career has been a testament to that structure and discipline. Starting out as 4:38 marathoner in 2015, and recently setting a PR with a 3:06 in January 2019, I know first-hand that with a strategic training regimen and incremental improvements, anything can be achieved.
Whether I’m out pounding the pavement, helping craft a plan for an athlete, or coaching someone through hammer intervals, running is my passion. It’s not always easy. It’s not always fun. But, it’s a journey worth taking.

What She Coaches:

Guilty Pleasures:

Watching ‘90s sitcom reruns in my PJs.

Favorite Non-Running Activities

Hiking. I especially love Yosemite National park. I cherish a hike to the top of Half-Dome almost as much as some of my favorite running races.

Qualities Hannah Admires In Her Students

I admire so many athletes’ unrelenting spirit. I’ve seen several athletes tackle unexpected hurdles in life, and not let it keep them down (both in training and in life). Everyone has battles, but it takes courage to not let battles keep you down.

Defining Moment In Hannah’s Career

The Boston Marathon 2018. It was my first time running the Boston Marathon and the weather conditions couldn’t have been any worse. I set a PR at that time. When I look back on that day, it’s surreal to think about what the athletes had to endure, but it’s encouraging to know we did it! It showed me that I’m stronger (mentally and physically) than I ever imagined I could be.
While I never want to run a marathon in those conditions again, I’m also so thankful that I had that experience and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
